General guidelines:

Novelettes and Novellas:

• We’re looking for WEIRD and BIZARRO fiction. Please become acquainted with these subgenres before submitting.
• Keep your wordcount in the range of 15k-35k.
• Heads Dance Press is explicitly leftist in it’s politics, and WILL NOT accept submission normalizing any hate, bigotry, or intolerance. All stories venerating capitalism, government, or policing institutions will be rejected.

Anthologies:

• Stories should be between 1500-4000 words.
• Genre: I wanna see bizarro, horror, unsettling, eerie, transgressive, gothic, etc. Comedic elements accepted and encouraged, as long as the story stays “dark.”
• Submitted work should be original (no reprints). For any accepted work, we ask to hold the rights until publication. After the anthology is published, full rights revert back to the author.
• We allow simultaneous submissions as long as you withdraw from us should your work be accepted elsewhere.
• Pay is a token payment of $20 per accepted story paid out upon publication (unless otherwise noted).
• Multiple submissions are fine. Limit to 2 stories per project. (Note: we will only include one piece per author in any one project.)
